Titanium dioxide is the natural titanium oxide. It is one of the strongest materials on Earth. When processed into a fine powder, it turns into a pigment providing maximum whiteness and coverage. It is used in paints, coatings, construction material, cosmetics, pharmaceutical industry and many other commercial products.
Production process
The nature does not provide titanium dioxide in a usable form. It has to be mined carefully in one of its pure forms and refined into fine equal particles. Chloride and sulphate processes are used to achieve that.
KRONOS has been granted original patents for the sulphate process and is producing the titanium-dioxide pigments by using this procedure continuously since 1916. KRONOS is using the sulphate process for production of high-quality raw materials for the industry of coatings, ink, fiber and paper.
